World Falun Dafa Day Celebration at Secaucus  5/16/2012

This year’s May 13 marks the thirteenth World Falun Dafa Day, as well as the twentieth anniversary of Falun Dafa(Falun Gong) being taught to the world. Falun Dafa practitioners from around the world gathered in Greater New York over the weekend to celebrate this occasion. Through free demonstrations, parades and performances, practitioners shared the wonder of this spiritual practice with local residents.
On Saturday, May 12, Falun Dafa practitioners from around New Jersey, New York City and Philadelphia held a celebration at the Buchmuller Park in Secaucus, NJ. At the event, practitioners read aloud the commendations from New Jersey’s Federal Senators and House Representatives, members of the state legislature, and mayors and councils from over twenty cities. In addition to extolling the benefit Falun Dafa brought to the local communities, they also proclaimed May to be the New Jersey Falun Dafa Month.
At 11AM, several hundred Falun Dafa practitioners stood in formation to demonstrate the Falun Gong exercises. Wearing golden colored T-shirts or blue jackets, they moved to the harmonious melodies of the exercise music. A nearby resident, Mr. Wang, was attracted by the music. He stayed through the entire exercise in an attempt to get a better understanding of Falun Dafa.
A series of cultural performances followed the exercise demonstration, including Chinese ethnic dances, classical music performances by individuals, ensembles, and the Divine Land Marching Band.
Mayor Michael Gonnelli and Councilwoman Susan Pirro of Secaucus were in attendance at the celebration event. Mayor Gonnelli welcomed all of the visitors in his speech, and extended an invitation to everybody to return next year, to treat Secaucus as home. Councilwoman Pirro read the proclamation issued by the City of Secaucus, in which she praised the contribution Falun Dafa made to the community, and the health and spiritual benefits Master Li Hongzhi brought to over 100 million people around the world.
